How's my student council speech?

• Good afternoon. My speech is really short. Student Council is so boring and stupid and you should get out of it right now! You’ll hate it! Just kidding. In fact, student council is the exact opposite of what I just said. Hi my name is Hoi Wong, and I am the people's choice for president of the Student Council of Hornedo Middle School. I am here to urge you to vote me into presidential office today. Today’s election is of dire importance to the short-term and long-term future of Hornedo Middle School. We need strong leadership this year. I would submit to you that I am the best qualified candidate to lead the Student Council and the student body. I would like to remind you all that the position of Student Council president is not a figurehead. This is a real job with real hard work, and I feel that I am the best qualified candidate to perform the job. I cannot encourage you enough to make the right choice and vote me into presidential office. My dedication and hard work will lead us into a golden age. If I am elected for president of this student government, I will go above and beyond to get you what you want and fast. I will listen to what you have to say and if necessary, talk to school officials on how that problem can be fixed. I will make sure each and every one of you complete your service hours and I’ll also make sure that you do not get forced out of the student council because of your low grades. I will give you as many ideas as I can on what ever where doing. I will make all of our school events be cool and not boring like they used to be. I will make sure that what we do will be done and be done correctly. I know at least one of you is thinking right now, “That kid is so fake. He’s not going to do what he says! He just wants to be president so that he gets to be called “the president”. Well that isn’t true. I will be dedicated to the job and I am absolutely not running for president just because I feel like it. I’m running because I want to turn this school around and make everyone know that student council does a great job. I hope my professional demeanor and serious attitude have shown you that I am devoted to the cause of improving Hornedo events. I have earned the trust of faculty members and students alike. I can assure you that you can trust me with any task or any request. I have always come through in the past. I am in all GT classes as well as in NJHS. Even though I am in NJHS, I chose to join Student Counicl because I care about our school. I hope you will vote for me today, and I hope you all make the right choice for the future of our school, for the furture of Hornedo Middle School.

I know you want to be funny, but this could back-fire and make you look foolish and offend people who care about student government. If you want to start with something as a joke, you could say, "Hi, my name is Hoi Wong. I'm an Aries. I like long walks on the beach. Oh wait...wrong speech!" Say something solid, like: "Today's election is important because..." and give them the actual reasons. I like the part about the office not just being a figurehead. Good choice of words. At the end of this paragraph, explain what the "golden age" is. Also, give some examples of how you will make events cool. It's great to say it, but people will vote for you because you give them something that they can imagine.
