Is American schooling and Australian schooling different?

Repeat a Year going from american to australian Schooling system?

  • So Im australian and im going to america. And ill be going into grade 9 till about grade 10 or 11. But I was told when i return back to australia which I will be doing that Ill have to repeate a year? So Grade 9 is Year 10 in australian and Grade 10 is Year 11 and Grade 11 is year 12 . So Its a bit confusing but Ill probably be there only for grade 9 and 10

  • Answer:

It depends on you schooling in America. If they deem it satisfactory enough, you will not have to repeat. Sometimes though, you do need to repeat a year if they feel you have missed too much school. I had a friend go to America for Year 10, returned to Australia for Year 11 and did not have to repeat Year 10. But I have also heard of people repeating the year they missed. Talk to the Department of Education, Board of Studies etc as well as your school to figure something out.
