Free Worksheets to get online for free?

Where can I find FREE online pre-3rd grade worksheets to get my son ready for school again?

  • I just want to freshen up his skills!! :)

  • Answer:

I've listed some good sites I used when I taught. I'd find sites and send lists home for parents to use for holidays, weekends, and Summers for those who wanted to keep their child prepared and not forget over a period of not attending school. A child does forget some over the Summer. The best thing you can do is take him to your local library and if he already doesn't have one, get him a library card and take him to the special event Summer things that are always very artistic, motivational, fun, and they have programs to encourage kids to read so many books and they win prizes, etc. You can also rent movies that are movie versions of books. Let him read the book and watch the movie and you ask him to compare the characters, settings, purposes, etc. He will learn that the book and movie are seldom ever alike. Every day during the Summer, you child should be reading at least 45 minutes, and you can break it up any way you feel holds his attention the best. If he can read an hour a day, that's even better. It would help if he sees the rest of his family reading also, for a child whose parents/caretakers read serve as an exemplary role model for him. The materials he reads can be magazines, books, travel guides you get at travel agents, order brochures or ask the travel agents for Disney World and fun kid places to visit guides, recipe books, cereal boxes, anything you can imagine. The child who reads can become anything he wants to be. My son is starting 3rd grade too. I went to www.lessontutor.com and they have different subjects. But I do think games are good too. And just some one on one. We use their easel all the time. Kids love chalk!
