How's high school life in Spain?

How's school life in u.s? im going this year on sept and i know only what its in the movies?

  • Hiiii americaanss, i'm argentinian, and my dad's diplomatic so i have to go to u.s live there like for many years not really sure how many. I got relatives there, my mom's family, mom is in heaven. I'm very nerveous, i dont know hows school life there, i wanna go to a public school because i think it'd be really cool like in the movies! lol, i just love it, u only have 6 or 7 subjects!!!!!!!!!!! thats incredible!!!!!! here i got 19 subjects, 1 is gym, 8 are english classes and the other 10 are spanish classes i think. I've done some cambridge exams, but as im going to u.s i wont be able to do the others. I just wanna know about the school there, where would u go, to a public or private school? what are the subjects u got in secondary? is there popular guys like in the movies ? lol, here we don't ,no school has 'popular guys' , and can i wear whatever i want? can i dye my hair??? can i use piercing? how many school hours? do they give u many homework how much per day? can u choose your classes? do you stay in the same class the whole day? do they choose your sits? do they do handshake or say only hi and dont kiss in the cheek? by the time i meet the ppl there, do i kiss them in the cheek?and there are blacks, i want a black boyfriend that raps lol do they like blonde green eyed girls? or do they prefer black girls? i know it may sound stupid lol sorry. And what do u do to hang out? do u go out til what hour? bc, here if u r in primary(under 12 yr old) u go out til 12 and if u r in secondary (over 12 yr) u go out til like 1,2,3,4,5, or 6am. And do u have many parties in school? can u go to dance clubs or disco (how do u call them)? here, when u r 12, 13 and 13 u go to school parties organised by parents who are saving money for trips to help poor ppl or are organised by older guys who're saving $ for the graduation party and trip and when u r 15,16,17 and 18 we go to dance clubs/discos, for teenager, and then there r the ones for adults but only the stupid ones go. And do u drink? in my school they start drinking when they're 15(in some other places they start earlier or later) and are there groups like ‘ the nerds, the freaks, etc’? and do they care a lot about their marks? Here not much, bc we got really good public schools, well I got a lot of questions but u gonna get too tired lol. Thanks anyone who answers =)

I'll answer a few of your question based off my experiences a public school in the U.S. There are popular kids, yes, and jocks, cheerleaders, nerds, everything you've seen in movies; the big difference between movies and real life is that you can be friends with any of these people you want, because they're HUMAN, so some are nice while some are not. A jock can be good at math, just like a nerd can be a state track champion. Don't buy into stereotypes. My school starts at 8 AM, and my classes are fifty minutes as follows, with a twenty-five minute lunch: Calculus AB, US Government, Biology, French V, Independent Study, English Literature, and Senior Capstone. Most schools in the US have about 7 or 8 classes a day. A lot of these things will depend on the school you go to, but at my school we're allowed to wear two "ear rings", anywhere on the body (for example, a nose ring and one ear ring). We can do absolutely anything with our hair, but we wear a uniform (which is NOT normal in the US). Like I said before, students in the US are humans, so I can't make blanket statements about whether black males like certain females. Just like any other guys, black boys all have their own preferences in girls. And yes, there are black students, white students, Asian students, European students, Mexican students, Indian students, and just about any race you can think of. I will ask that you try not to think of race too much, however, as we seem to have far too many people who still can't see beyond race (and this certainly isn't a flaw limited to the "white man" anymore). People are people. We definitely don't kiss people when we meet them. I hosted a French foreign exchange student last year who found out very quickly that trying to kiss high school students in the US was never well received. You can shake a person's hand if they offer, but for the most part, the high school students I know would only make a verbal greeting, perhaps accompanied by a nod of the head and smile. If you have any more question, you can contact me. The best thing you can do coming to the US is to not let any insecurities overtake you, and smile a lot. You'll make good friends quickly.

Okay I'm going to try and answer all of your questions, but i can't guarantee I'll get through all of them as there is a lot. (Note: I am not from America, but I'm from Canada and we're for the most part similar) "in the movies" this is a stereotype (sorry to disappoint) high-school in America or North America for that matter, is barely anything like the movies, if you go to a respectable enough high-school there won't be a lot of generalization like the "nerds" or "the popular kids", as I'm from Canada i don't know exactly how many classes they have, but probably around 4-5 i personally have 4, which you get to choose depending on the year you're in (grade 9s get to choose less classes than grade 10s 11s 12s) and you may have spare periods depending on the amount of credits you've earned. Some teachers allow you to choose your seats, others dont I'm pretty sure that in a public school there is little to know hard rules about piercings or dying your hair, i personally chose to go to a catholic school (big mistake) My school days were from 8 15 AM - 2 30 PM Handshaking is definitely more typical in the US and North America regarding someone you've just met. I personally don't know a single black person that actually raps, thats a stereotype as well. Regarding the marks, it varies person to person somebody might be dedicated to get good grades whereas others dont care at all. I answered everything i had a certain answer too,

Hey! i go to a private christian school and it is really fun I would recommend private because there is less bad stuff and bad people and you make a lot of friends! we have 7 subjects and school starts at 8;20 and ends at 3! Our school is kind of like the movies but the populars aren't as mean at all! My subjects are just bible english math history art and gym but in high school you can choose your subjects and there are really cool stuff like cooking workshop homeac and other awesome stuff and the teachers are nice and we go on cool field trips! btw i am in middle school! we are about to go on a trip to tennessee and do cool stuff and have a sleepover under sharks! When you meet people you can just talk or hug them. you can dye your hair but not to weird colors. there is popular guys but they talk to you and are nice. you can have only peirced ears but u can hav peirsings but u just hav to take them off. it depends on the teacher if you choose your seats most time we can. we dont got a lot of homework but some teachers give a little more than others. u start switching classes in 5th grade. here there is a uniform but it is so cute! there are black boys that rap here and it depends on the boy if they will date u but most of them would luv ur traits! to hang out we just go to movies or have sleepovers and tons of fun dance and other kinds of parties and ski and stuff bc we have a ski and tube place on the mt. buts it tarp and we do other fun things. there is no age or time limit to parties just whoever is invited. we r not allowed to drink but some ppl do it wen they r away from school. there is a few funny nerd groups but its not bad.yes but do NOT drink bc the drinking age is 21! sorry about ur mom ill pray for you! happy Easter:) hope this helped u a lil

Ok, I'll try to answer lots of questions. First, WELCOME TO AMERICA!! Even though I will probably never see you, I'm glad to have you in this country. In secondary there is 6 subjects in the state I live in. I go to public school. I have Gym, English, History/Geography, Math, Science, and a language of another country, like Spanish, Chinese, German, French, and so on. And as far as popular guys go, it depends on the school. everyone is obviously different, and there is different groups of people. Also, it depends on public or private where you can wear what you want. Public usually lets you wear what you want to while private usually makes you wear uniforms. You can dye your hair in public at least, I think in private too. I recently got a piercing and it is fine here. Usually around seven school hours. Homework depends, it's always different. You can choose your classes. Where I am, you swich classes every hour and have five minutes inbetween. Usually they do choose your seats. They only say hi; usually. no kiss on the cheek, to be honest, that would freak alot of people out. And DO NOT ever judge by race. It's not fair to anyone. There is some discrimination sometimes. It's not right. And as far as hanging out, we go to movies, go to eachothers houses, and more. Everyones curfew is different. If you have close friends you may spent the night at their house. It depends on the school for parties. People do not like to be judged by titles like nerd or dork or smartie or anything like that. I don't drink. Here it is ILLEAGAL to drink until you are 21 years old. So don't do that. I hope I helped. I am speaking as a teenager who goes to public school.c:
