    Chapter 7 Tom accuses Gatsby of being a bootlegger....soemthing about selling grain alcohol over the counter Gatsby tells Nick he owned drug stores....look at the explanatory notes at the end of the book and you'll see that drug stores were frequently a front for alcohol sales. You probably won't find prohibition mentioned per se. What you will see instead is that in virtually EVERY chapter or at least at every dinner and party there are drunk people. At Myrtle's apartment, at Daisy's dinner, at the hotel, everyone is always drinking in that book....even though it takes place during prohibition
