What is an interesting topic for essay?

Do you think its a bad idea to write an essay about Why i should go to that University.   I personally think it's a bad idea. You don't want to brag about yourself, your transcript does that on its own. Plus, they know why people go to their school (their courses, reputation, good campus life). Perhaps write about something significant to you. Maybe an event that made you a better person. Something about you as a person- not a student who gets A's. Something that your transcript doesn't say about you. They want to know why you would be an asset to their campus, not test scores (though that does help).
