Are humans essentially good or bad?

Humans are essentially bad. Everyone has said this," No one is perfect" If no one is perfect than we're all bad. There's no curve. There's no in between. We're either evil or perfect. It's really that simple. We either all deserve Hell or we all deserve things like happiness.

well I think at the end of it Humans are bad at the core, but we do good things for bad reasons an example of what I mean, someone seems allot of homeless people so he gives a few of them money, that's a good thing but he did it so he would feel better and more proud of himself. I mean we help people so we become better people, we do it for ourselves it just happens to be a nice side effect that the other person gets something out of it. Religion is another good example, the bible or whatever tells you to stick to certain rules to make you a "good" person, not for the other people you help but so you can get into heaven or where ever your religion lets you get to. I hope you can see my point of view and oh by the good is in speech marks because when religion is involved good is only a point of view, a Christan preaching hatred of gays might think he is doing something good however to all the gay people its bad, same for other rules about women and stuff in the muslim religion and stuff.

This is a philosophical question. What defines good or bad? Who defines good or bad? In some countries, it is acceptable to marry more than one person. However, westen society sees that as a crime. I would say humans are flawed at best. The perception of good or bad is only determined by the ongoer.

In a perfect world everyone would be good, unfortunately this world we live in, harbours the good the bad and the downright evil. I suppose your query depends on who you ask. Ask a priest or any man of god and they will tell you that there is good in every living soul. Ask a member of the law, you could get quite a different opinion. Ask a victim of crime, they too will have a strong opinion on the perpetrators. A parent of a murdered loved one knows the evil in this world. To conclude, if you live throughout your life without coming in contact with the nasties in this world you will have lived a charmed life indeed. So love your fellow man and hope you have met the good.

I think a lot of it depends on how they're raised and who influences them as a child.
