Few questions about Nuclear engineering?

I have a few questions about genetic engineering?

  • I'm not asking for you to do all of these questions but can anyone give me a site(s) with the following answers please? I've looked all over on this topic there is alot of information and I don't have time to read it all... please help me out a bit even if its just a wee bit of information? on one of these questions Explain what genetic engineering is and how it can be applied to everyday life. How can genetic altering benefit the society of today and future societies? Name at least three areas where genetic engineering has been successful and give an example of each. Name at least three areas where genetics could be used to improve life. Explain some risk factors involved in interfering with Mother Nature. What other areas of life could this manipulation of genes cause?

  • Answer:

this is my 2 cents worth... genetic engineering (i'll call it GE) is used every day with out you noticing it. people have modified fruits and veggies for argriculture. most of the food ou eat is genetically modified! it can benefit us becuase we can make for resistant food, vegetables, as well as more effective vaccinations. because you are meddling with the very fundementals for things, you can change them into whatever you want, as well as swap good parts of something for a less effective, making it better. scientists are even trying to isolate genes like autism so they can eliminate it in the future. agriculture, food. medicine, better vaccines, genes. ect without extensive testing, GE things can be very harmful. a few years back, the FDA allowed a type of GM corn for livestock, but it got mixed with regular, unmodified corn and people got very ill. (i think) in some countries, where poverty, drought, and no food are everywhere, they will not accept any GE food, but idk if it is for religious reasons or what... every.single.area. in the futue, almost everything you eat will be GMed, as well as vaccines (sorry, but spell check isn't working lol) i hope that helped. if not sorry. i got most of this info on a modern marvels episode about GE, so look that up, it will be helpful

1. Scientific alteration of the structure of genetic material in a living organism. It involves the production and use of recombinant DNA and has been employed to create bacteria that synthesize insulin and other human proteins. 2. Could help cure hundreds of diseases 3. Diabetes--the first genetically engineered medicine was Insulin; Another early application of genetic engineering was to create human growth hormone as replacement for a drug that was previously extracted from human cadavers. In 1987 the FDA approved the first genetically engineered vaccine for humans, for hepatitis B 4. There are potentially momentous biotechnological applications of genetic engineering, for example oral vaccines produced naturally in fruit, at very low cost for most of the country. 5. May move us toward practicing eugenics, which can be abused (ie. the Nazi's and their idea of 'racial purity')
