Do u think MADOFF MADOFF is a GENIUS? a real GENIUS?

My cousin is a math genius I think...what should we do?

  • Hey everyone.. My cousin is in 5th grade, and I feel he is a math genius. In our family we're all good in math, but he is something else. I asked him to multiply 64 by 27 and he got the answer right in only 5 seconds. I asked him a bunch more and he got them all right very quickly. He never uses a calculator and is very fast in all areas of math..whether it be the 4 operations, fractions, percentages, etc. Should we talk to the director about this to have him skip a year? He has really amazed all of us. He has behavior issues in the class because he gets bored a lot which I'm assuming is because of the fact that he understands everything and finishes his exercises very quickly. Also..to make sure he's a genius what else should we quizz him about? He's also gotten really lazy..is this normal for geniuses?

I think it is his parents or guardians place to go to the guidance counselor's office and talk about their son's achievement. They can look at his standardized test scores and grades and determine if he is gifted only in math or all subjects. They can determine if he should take addition courses, skip a grade, or get one to one attention. Then, maybe they can talk to the teacher to see if he can be challenged. Good Luck.

have him help you with math homework

yes because hes bored since hes not challenged enough. you should either accelerate his learning, or put him into a special schooling program for gifted kids. if possible home schooling with a program like John Hopkins is the optimum descision in my opinion

sounds like me. they wont let me go up a grade because of my behavior though. u jus get so bored and ur begging for harder work. its hard not to act up. he could become a tutor.

Unfortunately it is true that geniuses or those with a high IQ get bored and get into trouble in school. He should be in an advanced class to be challenged more. Most schools have advanced classes. While he is great at math, what about his other subjects? If math is his only strong point, I certainly would not recommend skipping a grade because other subjects may be too advanced for him and he would be set up to fail. Check out an advanced math class for him or possibly even Mensa if he's interested. I don't know how old you have to be to join Mensa which is for high IQ's. I qualify, but am not interesting at my age to join. Any quizzes should be well-rounded on every subject. Good luck.
