How can I write an interview essay?

English essay topic question? HELP?

• The instructions for my essay are Write an essay detailing how you change your rhetoric in response to two distinctly different social situations (e.g., a job interview as opposed to a conversation among friends). The outcome that you want in each case is to be the same. For example, in the case of the job interview, you are looking to impress the potential employer with your qualifications and capability. In the social situation, you want to be liked, but you don’t want to be perceived as an egotist who is merely trumpeting how wonderful you are. Adjustments to language, word choice, sentence structure are (sometimes unconsciously) made to accommodate the situation in which you find yourself. Your job in this essay is to draw attention to these (sometimes unconscious) adjustments. I'm not asking for someone to tell me what to write about exactly, I'm just confused as to how to go about writing this essay. I'm not sure at all like how formal this essay is or how I am supposed to "draw attention" to the differences. Can anyone help me pleasee???

  Well, think about it this way: You go into the job interview...What kinds of things do you say? I would be formal, frank, courteous and practice the social norms. My rhetoric in this case would be more formal and persuasive. Now you're trying to mingle with friends. You would tend to be more free, humorous, use colloquialisms or slang, and maybe profanity. Sometimes, you might give into peer pressure to fit in. The rhetoric used here would be more of a carefree and youthful tone. Hope this helps!
