Similarities/Differences between Gilgamesh and the Bible Paper?

• I'm writing a paper for an honors history course in college, and I am discussing the similarities and differences between Gilgamesh and the Bible. I'm specifically focusing on the Flood in this paper. I have all my points of discussion written down, but I'm not sure about my thesis statement. Right now I have "While the Epic of Gilgamesh does have some striking similarities to the Bible’s story of the flood, there are enough differences between the two to make them distinguishable." If you could provide feedback on my thesis statement, and even some tips on my paper that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  This is a kind of thesis that is true, but not very interesting because no reasonable person could possibly disagree with it. For a better grade, try to reach a little further into controversy by defending a thesis that tries to explain WHY these differences exist. Some possible reasons might include the different cultures of the Bible versus the Sumerians (rural shepherds/urban farmers), or their different views of the gods/God, or their different ideas about how women should behave.
