Why should Romeo and Juliet be taught?

Reasons why Romeo and Juliet did not mature through out the play??

  • hi, can someone give me some reasons why Romeo or Juliet did not mature through out the play?? and can someone actually answer the question! I NEVER GET ANY ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS!! I WILL GIVE 10 POINTS TO ANY1!! JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!! thanks and i love u!

  • Answer:

most characters do go through a "growing" process in stories. However, in R&J they stay the same (until death). I think this is to illustrate that there is nothing for them to learn and grow from b/c true love is the ultimate theme throughout the play. No changes or growth could change the undying love that they posses for each other, so maturing would be irrelevant, IMHO. It is hard for some of us to fathom this kind of love, but it does exist in rare instances.

i would say that they matured a little bit... but they were immature in the sense that they thought nothing could happen to them... they were childish in their thinking that everything was going to be okay and they would live happily ever after...

If Romeo and Juliet "matured" through out the play they would have found a way to succeed and survive is what I'm guessing you are getting at here. You are missing the essence of the play though. Romeo and Juliet was a tragedy. Not everything in the world is good and right and as it should be. Sometimes when you struggle you don't always succeed. What you are feeling is what I expect Shakespeare wanted people to feel though. You are supposed to shake your fist at the world :P

I am Natasha's complete lack of surprise

Well you could argue that they both react, since the beginning of the play which continued throughout the play, on impulse. Once they realize something went bad, they immediately thought of suicide.

define mature... probably because they didnt get any older (if I remember right), and their forbidden love is just 1 life event, and you mature through lifes events

mature sexually or emotionally? they did spend their wedding night together. emotionally...they didn't mature because of the society they lived in. it was accepted for daughters to be betrothed against their wishes and for people to be banished for doing bad things. if only they had realized that Juliet could've just left to Mantua with Romeo instead of faking her death and ultimately killing the both of them. but then again...if they had done that, there wouldn't even be a story.

The time span was only a few days, and they were very young. Not enough time for them to mature.

Because they never really grew out of that "juvinile love" and they ended up literally dying for love. They also did not mature because they did not think of cause and effect about their love. They didnt listen to the advice and people around them like their parents.

Jenna

sheeshhhhhhhhhh...ease up.. they did not mature bc both died in their early teens...that is what I say.
