How to start a new small scale diary farm with 5 cows?

  • I want to start a new diary farm with 5 cows at the starting and later on i want to expand my farm. What are the basic things I should keep in mind before starting and what all do i need to start and enjoy a profitable business?

    Think of following points practically. 1. Space to keep cow. 2. Manual hard work is needed. do you have workers? 3. Need to have ready customers who will place order for milk right from 1st day. 4.Who will look after finance management. 5. As milk being perishable item, how you will preserve it. You will need some cooling / storing arrangement. 6. How will you compete with leading brands of milk like AMUL, WARANA etc. 7.Think of any milk processing products like curd, buttermilk, KHAVA , paneer so that you will have more no. of products to offer and you can catch larger market. 8. For marketing of milk, you may ask for any company, school for monthly aggrement where you will have some surety for sale. Also it may depend where you exactly start this, in urban area or in rural area?
