Ebay help ! Buyer returned item when he lied about condition to get refund? So I sold a laptop bag to a buyer on eBay. The bag is fine, other than there is a sticker residue inside the bag, there is nothing wrong with it. Also, I dont accept returns; thus all sales are finals. Then this buyer say there are white dots in front of the bag and demand to return to me for a refund, as soon as he said that, I know he is BSing. I escalated the case, and explained that the dots is a lie and eBay favored his side anyway, asked buyer to return the item to me for a refund. How could eBay listen to his side of the story ? I mean, is every detailed I provided means nothing to them ? what is the point of my no return accepted policy ? I called ebay and they say "oh, you got the item back so you can always relist it" Gotta be the most prominent rubbish ever, the decision of having buyer to return item is wrong, it is like saying I am the one who is lying. The worst part is I got the item back, I appeal the case and even provided photo to show there are no white dot to prove buyer wrong, my appeal got denied, and a statement said "we confirmed that the item is not as described"......my goodness.....didnt you even see the picture I provided ? So the question is, is there anything I can do and not letting the buyer get away with it ? Thanks !

Unfortunately Ellis there's not much you can do. I too have had instances where buyers have basically scammed me, which is why I quit eBay for awhile. eBay knows they are the 800 pound gorilla online so sellers basically end up with this take us or leave us bullsh*t. They give less than a f*ck about sellers. It seems like when eBay bought PayPal a few years ago, they started changing the rules that seem to always favor the buyer. I knew there was BS in the game when they changed the fact that sellers could no longer leave negative feedback for the buyers. To me that was a signal that said they were going to place more importance on buyers and screw the sellers. Plus they keep raising fees to sell...total scam. Now all a buyer has to do is whine a little and eBay & PayPal will favor them 99% of the time. Some buyers have caught on to this and have started semi-extortion techniques to get what they want. For instance they might buy an item, receive it in excellent condition, but turn around and email you that the item was damaged but they will keep it and leave you positive feedback IF and only IF you send them half of what they paid for the item. If you don't agree then they leave you a negative feedback mark which plays havoc with your feedback % and reputation. And eBay does nothing. That actually happened to me a couple of times with some expensive electronics I was selling on eBay and I decided to chuck it. Now all I sell is information products on CDs, which have been a blast. I never get returns, the cost to ship is minimal and no one has tried to scam me...yet! And I started selling physical products on Amazon, which is a freakin goldmine. They bend over backwards to help sellers there. There's almost no competition because all I do is determine what's hot, create a free review blog, get it listed high on the first two pages of Google and buyers buy the products. The only thing I wish they would do is to provide a way to access your money quickly like I had with eBay & PayPal. I could sell an item on eBay today, have the buyer pay me via PayPal, take my PayPal debit card, go to any ATM and get my money the same day. With Amazon they send you a check or wire transfer into your bank account. Like I said I still sell on eBay, but I don't sell stuff like I use to because of the BS.

You could, in theory, sue the buyer for damages, under ordinary breach of contract, but since you got the bag back your claim may be limited to the cost of having to relist, if any, and the difference in price that you get for it versus what he originally agreed to pay (i.e., your lost profit).
