How to become a wedding planner..................??

I have always wanted to be a wedding planner and i would like some tips and advice on how to get started. I would particularly like to hear from wedding planners themselves for people who know wedding planners. I understand that their are courses available but i don't know any wedding planners so i'm not sure how i can get some experience. Serious answers only please. Thanks in advance
