How can I find things to resell on ebay besides ebay itself?
-
I love selling on eBay, my whole room is deteriorating due to eBay. I am 18 years old and I have a decent amount of money saved up that I am willing to spend on getting things to sell on eBay. I was wondering what I can do to get things to sell. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are some good answers on here. Yeah, check craigslist under "free". Sometimes people are trying to move and just want to get rid of stuff. You can find some really great items on there sometimes. Yep, and hit yard sales in your area...and flea markets. You can really find some neat stuff in those places. Antiques sell well. Another idea is to just ask relatives if they have anything that they want to get rid of. Maybe they have some things that they don't use that are cluttering up the house. Good luck!

Hit the garage sales around you. Or if you find some particular items sell better, advertise on craigslist what items your are looking to buy.

Rental storage units. Usually those places will have planned auctions to sell off stuff from the units really cheaply. Check out any local storage unit places and give a call to ask. Usually you go there on the planned day and they give you a run down of what time to be at what unit. They open it up and a guy starts taking stuff out. Another guy starts off like "ok, 5 dollars for this couch" and the bid starts. Just bring a truck to haul away your goods. Antique stores are another option if they have not been fully sifted through by too many other keen eyed individuals. That requires a fair amount of research however. Take photos of pieces you'd like to sell, go home to the internet and research the crap out of them. Pay attention to stamps, marks, names, etc. Those will help your key word searches.

I don't know exactly what you're thinking about, but I'd definitely look into wholesalers. Basically, you get signed up with a wholesaler like on esources.com, and you buy items in bulk much cheaper per unit than you would elsewhere. The alternative is a 'dropshipper' - someone that agrees to send out stock on your behalf. You sell the item online to someone, then when they've paid for it, you pay the lowered dropshipper's price for the item, pocket the difference, and they send out the stock on your behalf (so technically you never have to buy stock). Never used them before but an example of this could be theselect.co.uk. At any rate, do a lot of research. Find a niche and your profits will soar. Good luck mate.

Check the Clearance sections of stores. Not just your everyday discount store, but check the smaller specialty type stores. Like used book stores, electronics stores, or even tools/hardware stores. One of my best "eBay" finds ever was at a used book store. They had taken in a guys entire collection of old Aviation magazines (over 350 in total..mostly from the 60's and 70's). I bought the entire bunch of them from their "Clearance Section" for just 10 cents each. After sorting by title, and year, I listed them in appropriate groupings on eBay. My investment of just a little over $35 turned into over $650 with not all that much work.

I would suggest going to garage sales and yard sales on the weekend and selling the stuff on eBay. I make decent money doing this. I'm not going to lie and say i make like a 1000 a weekend or anything. But I usually make at least $50-$150 a weekend. Just depends on what you find. If you are interested in trying this, I wrote a book that has examples and tips in it to get you started. http://www.garage-sale-items.com Good Luck!
