Setting up a UK based recruitment agency.?
-
I am looking into setting up a UK based IT recruitment agency. As yet I have not decided if I will specialise in one skill set but believe there is a market for one skill set I know of. I have been in IT 4 many years as a contractor,so know the market & process of obtaining candidates & how it works. It is not that difficulty. I am however missing the fundamental knowledge on things such as law relating to agencies, contracts, what an agency needs in terms of specialist law, procedures? Ways of selling and getting clients etc. I can run a business and do already, but how do I best move into recruitment & what do I need to know? Any useful sources or tips will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
Recruitment companies have adverts like: "great job, superb employer, £70k, car, health benefits". when you contact them they say the job has gone, but they will keep you on their books - then they spam you with unsuitable jobs, with unrealistic wages. Hey, if it works for them, why not for you? {edit} It is quite amusing that potential recuitment agent asks a question....... but doesn't come back to finish the issue (resolve the question)...........I think he'll make an _excellent_ recruitment agent. (what's the betting that this question will go to "voting" before a best answer is picked?)

I dont really know for sure but you could try going to your local job centre and speaking to some one there I'm sure they could tell you how to go about it or go to your local CAB citizen advise

Hi, i am hoping to do a similar sort of thing, but its more public sector based, revenues and benefits to be precise! I understand that the agencies youre talking of are more specialised than the general ones the previous answers have included. If youve been working as a contractor for some time, you may have built up a large potential client base, if not, you can gain access to "matrix" systems such as comensura, providing you have correct insurance details ect I think the recruitment business in a specialist subject has a lot to do with who you know! good luck!
