How much does it cost for me to put some items on eBay?

I want to sell an item on Ebay BUT how do I determine the cost of shipping?

I want to sell a few items on Ebay and I have no idea how to figure out the shipping costs. I am completely new to Ebay both with buying and selling. I assume the buying part is alot easier. Do i visit my local post office to know how much shipping would be? What about how long its going to take? I cant tell who the buyer is going to be and where they are going to located ahead of time so how do I know what to put for shipping cost and how long it will be before it arrives? Sorry I don't mean to sound like a complete dummy (lol) but I just really want to know how to do this to be able to generate extra money.

You could always choose flat rate shipping. As long as it fits in the flat rate box or envelope, it will always be $10.95. That may be a little easier if you don't have a scale to determine shipping costs.
