What jobs will pay under the table?

  • I'll be getting laid off from my job soon. Part of my severance will be paid medical and dental for 1 year after I'm let go. I'm in the middle of a nasty custody battle w/ my ex and not only need some mental time off, but no new boss will tolerate my coming in late and leaving early for court appointments. so, other than babysitting, what else can I do to make extra money while I'm on unemployment? thanks.

    It would be best to know your background but here are some alternatives. 1.Landscaping 2.Electrical (Rewiring) 3.(RISKY) Auctions (Buy low at an Auctions sell on e-bay) 4.Working on peoples houses. (Doing drywall, wallpapering, carpeting, etc. Threes always oddball jobs out there.

Whilst you are on 'unemployment' you are signing a contract to be looking for work not illegally working and illegally claiming benefits. When you do claim unemployment my hard earned taxes (well not just mine) pay that money to you so that you can live whilst you look for a job. You say 'part of your severance' so waht is the rest of it. Maybe you will have too much to claim benefits (£6k limit in savings I think). There are lots of jobs you could do to pay your way that would not preclude your right to legal aid and would keep you the right side of the law. Try some of the call centers and/or supermarkets as they have specific shifts for parents who cannot work outside of school hours. Best of luck
