Whats a good way to advertise my small business?

  • I've been a private tutor for years, stopped for a year, and now want to start up again. Whats a good way for me to advertise, or get the word around, that I want to start again and want clients?? thanks!

    It depends on who you want to tutor and where. If you want to work with adults and youths in your community the best methods of advertising would be: The Local Community Paper - classified or display ads Local Community Boards - found at community centres, grocery stores, malls, or other places where you can post a bill. Coffee shops can be good too. Local Schools - elementary, high schools, colleges, universities, community schools, speciality interest schools etc. wherever your targets or targets parents are. A website couldn't hurt (my company can help you with that) but may not be needed. Some of the suggestions that other people have are great but keep in mind that if you teach in groups you can get in trouble if you don't have any certifications.

Advertise at colleges on the message boards, let old profs know, see if you can advertise in the local school papers.

Have you went into monster.com their is an increaseing number of children being home schooled by computer. Get a web site. You can teach a number of students at one time. Actually it is amazing how many people are on answers and a lot of them students. I know a bunch. Tell what your skill is! You get paid by how many click into your web site and offer a chance for the students to ask questions. Unless it is dance class or music. I know a lot of teachers making more money now that they are retiried than they did working. One started out teaching her grand daughter and then helped a group of kids and now has virtual classrooms by computer and makes a bundle. this is a real rural area and to hire teachers for these small towns is not cost effective. So they learn from home by computers and the teacher can live in California or Florida and teach children in rural oklahoma or Ark. If fact they are doing it everyday.

I won't tell you by tv cuz it wont work as well ..you may put a poster outside of your house or office ,maybe you can advertise yorself by radio ,remember there are many people out there lying to sell but ,if are a good tutor you 'll get clients soon.And if you hire someone who can make you a good conmercial it will be better..besides u can do it through newspaper..
