How much would I make being a digital artist?

If I where to become a HAIRDRESSER AND MAKE UP ARTIST (NOT BEAUTICIAN) How much money roughly would I earn?

  • Say I qualified in hair dressing/styling and started up my career working somewhere nice, While still in uni/tafe learning to become a make up artist, once I get out and gain a few years experience apply for a job at a really prestigious place (Oscar Oscar ect.) Because I then would have the ability to do Hairdressing and do beaty :) it would increase my chance at scoring a job or if not I could still work the 2 things and get paid more. ROUGHLY if I got in! How much money would I earn being a hairdresser and make up artist. (Prepared to work long hours and hard everyday) xxx Thanks! .... :)

  • Answer:

This field is tough, but can be lucrative, your earning potential is best when you have your own shop not a job. The time and effort it takes to build a name, client base etc is only for those who love it as an art and would do it for free. So unless that is the approach you will have I would think long and hard if this is what you want to do. I'm not saying this to through cold water on you, but I have lots of people in the business as clients and it is not easy, a good calculation however is, figure how much various items cost say wash and set $45 how long does it take if you did that for 10 hours how many could you do and if you were in a 60/40 split what would you take home, minus your chair rental and products. Hope this helps... Kliksys
