How to get clients for Cleaning houses?

How do I start a cleaning job?

  • I was reading online that women are cleaning people's houses until they find a real job. Apparently you can get paid pretty good money cleaning peoples' houses. I want to do it because I actually like cleaning and want to make some money at least until I get a real job. I'm a 19 year old female, so I don't have any major bills to pay yet. I can only do it around my town, because I don't have a license and need to walk. How do I get started and attract people for me to clean their houses? Would placing a classified ad on Craigslist help? Do I need to bring my own cleaning supplies or do I use theirs?

Wish you lived in my town! Yes, a craigslist ad posting couldn't hurt! But you should always interview IN PERSON - and bring a friend (to stay in a car out front - just don't mention that you have a friend waiting) - at least the first time. If you feel safe - then you can send your friend home to come back and pick you up at a preset time. You want to be clear about what your client expects - and what you are going to charge. Whether you will accept "checks" (but only if they are willing to let you look at their drivers license" and write down the number on the check itself) Whether you need to bring cleaning materials is something that you can ask - on the phone. Just be sure that you have "backup" in your car - I don't suggest that you do this by bus or other public transportation. If you are hired to be a daily laborer for a single family/person - then busing is ok! But normally that wouldn't do. Some people hire help - because they're "lonely" and will follow you around to bend your ear, others follow you around to be sure that you aren't stealing. Some people are really fussy - others just want a general cleanup - take an extra 15 minutes getting information. Good Luck!

Yes... you have to place your ads on craigslist and more classified sites. Own cleaning supplies is totally depend on your budget.
