What should i wear to a job interview at a college clothing store?

• I have a job interview on Friday at a college clothing store. All of the employees there wear t-shirts with the name of the college on them and then jeans. I've always been told that you need to wear dressy clothes to an interview, but I'm afraid if I do that in this situation I'll look like I am out of place or that I'm not aware of what the employees wear to work. So what do you guys think? Should I wear dressy clothes? Or should I dress like I'm prepared to work in the store? I just want to make sure I'm giving the right impression.

In this case, I would wear smart casual clothing unless the person interviewing you has other suggestions. You could also ask him or her if they need anything else from you such as references etc. A general rule of thumb for interviews is to look at the company website and see what employees are wearing.
