How to deal with difficult customers?

I need to learn how to deal with rude customers and controlling coworkers better?

  • I'm a college student and I've been working as a cashier at a small grocery store for a year now. I'm still having trouble figuring out how to deal with customers that complain and co workers trying to control me or mess with me(I'm the youngest there) I seem to take everything too personally but I'm not rude. How can I learn to deal with people like this better?

  • Answer:

You said the most important key to dealing with these things yourself. Do not take it personal. These issues come with the territory of working in a small grocery store at an entry level. You are getting lifelong experience by learning how to control your emotions & deal with stressful situations. Once you realize that it is not an attack against you directly & is just part of the job you do, you will be able to go home at the end of the day & forget about it. There will always be co workers who try to mess with you, but as you get older & have more seniority & experience, you will be more confident in your abilities & they wont bother you as much.
