How to start up my own business in food industry?

  • I cook pretty well so want to start up my own business with ready made meals but struggling to know how and where to start from. would also like ot know if anyone know how i can get food manufactures to prepare and package my recipe so it will be ready to sell in the shops. Want to know how to get through asda/tesco/sainsburys to get my ready meals up their shelves. Thank you

If you have no idea then you have no chance. The large stores buy from credited suppliers. Your food would have to go through a huge amount of health & hygiene checks and you would have to have a facory to prepare them. No supermarket is going to give you an order for a few dozen meals, it would have to hundreds on a regular basis. UK

You would have to spend thousands getting all the health and safety side of things sorted out before a large company would even consider you. You would also have to have all the food tested by someone, so they can work out the fat, salt, fibre etc content in each meal. It is a very expensive process, but good luck.
