What is the best way to start up a freelance Graphic Design business?

  • I went to school for Graphic Design a few years ago, and have been taking baby steps to break into the industry. It's hard to find a position open for a designer in my area and want to try and freelance on the side, and maybe even make it full time. What is the best way to start my business from home?

    The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in. My wife did this a few years ago by simply registering a business name with the government and then doing work for friends, family, churches and things of that sort under the business name. Eventually people talk to other people and within a year she was doing work for the government and corporations.
