How to open a daycare in CA?

How do I open a daycare in Illinois?

  • I am currently a CNA and need a change of scenery. I love kids and want to start a daycare. I have looked on sites and can't seem to find the info I'm looking for. I want to open a daycare with a friend, but I'm not sure how to get the license required. I am CPR certified and I know that is necessary. But I live in an apartment. It has 2 exits, which I also know is required. And is there an age requirement? I'm 20.

Here is a link to an abbreviated explanation from DCFS about how to start a home daycare. Yes, you do have to be 21 years old, but perhaps this can just be time to get organized, obtain any necessary training, and get your program ready to start. http://www.state.il.us/dcfs/library/com_communications_sumlicen_dcg.shtml Additionally, I would suggest you contact your local child care resource and referral agency. They can be a good resource for starting your program and can also help you fill your slots. If you find the need to purchase contracts, forms, handbooks, policies and procedures, etc, my company sells downloads (that we use in our own programs) for a low cost. www.DayCareTools.com
