How do i convince my parents to let me start a ebay account to make money?

  • i am 13 and i wanted to get a ebay account to make some money since my parents think i am too young to babysit, and they wont drive me places so i cant get a job lik mowing lawns. i do not know how to convince them. right now all i do to make money is buy cookies at the school lunch line, and when the school has run out of cookies to sell,i sell mine at twice the price i bought them at. so how cn i convince my parents that i should get a ebay account?

What are you going to sell? Having an ebay account can be a big responsibility that could land you in a lot of trouble if you buy things you cant pay for. Also, you will need a paypal account too. I think this is too much for an 8th grader. Other jobs to do: pet sitting (put up fliers), etc.

hunny you are only 13 you dont need an ebay account. you can try yard sales or something but it is never a good idea for a 13 year old to have that kind of account. besides it is illegal!!! you have to be 18

Ermmm. Okay so when you make an Ebay account, you need a credit or debt card (bank card), if you don't have them, don't even bother with the Ebay account. If you have a bank account, you can register on Paypal and then add the bank account to PayPal. Then you can make an ebay account like that; You don't just make an ebay account and expect money to "digitally" be posted to you?? If you have the paypal and bank stuff covered; just make one anyways. Thats what I did, my parents yelled at me and got over it. Or just tell them that your friends have done it or something. (Y)

If you are asking this question then you are more likely to lose money on ebay than anything, because you will not recognize the scammers and thieves. You also are too young to enter into a legally binding contract.

You could possibly suggest that you open an eBay account WITH your parents and you can all run it together... that way its safer for you because they can explain things and it will give you some experience. Like the others said, you have to be 18 years of age to have an eBay account for yourself.
