Dropshipping, selling stuff online...?
-
I want to sell stuff online on my own website by dropshipping. From what i understand, dropshipping works like this: you get a contract from a company, and when you sell something of theirs on your site they will send it to the person and give you like 10% of the profit or whatever amount you agreed on. So, is this how it works? If so, how would i get a contract or whatever it is i need from the company and how do i find companies that dropship? How would i start this? Im completely lost. Also, what are some sites that do this, so i can see how they work... i think amazon dropships, who else? Would any company even bother making a deal with some guy running a website from home? If you could help me out with this it would be AWESOME

Answer:
Many of the people who facilitate dropshipping are kind of a middle man. They get you access to all the products. You either market the items on your ows site or list them on ebay or some other site. Then once someone purchases the the item, they pay you and you place the order. The item is then shipped directly to your customer. The profit for you, is the difference between what you pay the supplier for it and what the customer pays you. The hardest part about it is finding the right supplier(s). The one that I most recently tried was Doba. They have access to lots of products and have good customer service. They also hace afiliation with companies who provide you with a website that has it's own shopping cart and you can stock it with the products Doba has, or your own. You can customize the site to some degree as well. However, even though they have great service and easy to use resources, Doba's wholesale prices were so high, I found it very difficult to make a profit. It seemed like most of the items I found and listed were already on ebay at much lower prices. So, there was no way I was going to profit using them. I am still researching suppliers. I would still like to do this, but I want to find the right prices and products first. Also remember, if you choose to sell on your own website rather than ebay, you will have to drive traffic to your site. You will be responsible for that. After all, you can have all the great products in the world, but if no one see your site then you have no customers. So, the keys are 1. Find a supplier or suppliers that really give you a good wholesale price and 2. Marketing your products or site heavily. Good luck to you! I am going to be doing the same thing so maybe as we go along we could share notes. I'm at [email protected]

I have been thinking of doing the same thing. The one website that I have found is [www.OnlineSupplier.com]. They even have a 7-day trial membership for like $2 so you can see what products their website has ... I signed up 4 days ago and am still waiting for my username/password in the freaking snail mail. It might be a fraud, I don't know yet. But I am sure there are more companies like that.
