How to market an idea?

• I have an idea how to improve the ease of using a product. But once i say or show it what's to stop them form using it. I don't believe you can patent an idea. any Information or direction would be great.

  Hi Eightball! Yes, you can patent improvements to already existing inventions! The soda pop can I think has several hundred different patents related to it's design and manufacturing techniques. What it sounds like you want to apply for is a "Utility Patent" which is granted to anyone who invents or discovers any new and useful process, machine, article of manufacture, or compositions of matters, or any new useful improvement thereof. But yes, until you get one, there's nothing to stop someone from using it and\or claiming it as their own idea, reaping mass profits from it and leaving you in the lurch.
