What does it mean to work in retail?

What does this mean? im a little confused on if it means you cant work here until your 17?

As for the reason it could just be an oversight or perhaps they prefer that you be at least 17 before you deal directly with customers or handle money. It may have something to do with insurance and loss prevention at the retail stores. It's really hard to tell. Since you want to work at a retail store, just give them a call and ask them the age requirement and if they are accepting applications.
