What are some effective guerilla marketing techniques ?

  • I am new to marketing and on a budget. I have a tutoring service for college kids that I need to get out there. I'm in a time crunch and need to get the program launched in less than a month. I've done direct mail and some new media work plus some fliers. What else is possible?

Do NOT use Adwords unless you know what you are doing. Here is a marketing trick that worked for me. I approached a cafe/restaurant owner and said that I wanted to run a compeition for the local diners. Basically it involved business owners to drop their business cards into a small bowl left near the cash register. At the end of a month one of them would be pulled out and win a prize. The prize of course was a slap up meal at the restaurant which made the owner agree to it. All those who did not win were contacted and told that they didn't win the competition but would they won a runners up prize. This was a booklet or CD promoting my services. You could probably adapt this technique to suit your own situation. Read Jay Conrad Levinson who is the master of guerilla marketing. He is full of great ideas to help you think outside the box...
