How much would it cost to rent space at an outlet mall in this scenario?
-
My brother and I want to open up a business and theres this outlet mall in our area that has a lot of empty spots. The rumor around the area is that they don't charge per sq.ft but instead they charge you a percentage of your stores total months sales. Does anyone have any idea what percent that could be? Just wondering peoples opinions at this point.

Answer:
These things are almost always negotiable. You will want to have a good idea what you anticipate your sales and margins would be before you start negotiating. Talk to some of the shop owners already there, most will be happy to tell you how good of a deal they struck. If I had to guess it would be in the range of 3 to 10% of your gross revenue, this will all depend on the size, facilities, traffic etc.
