Something like ebay out there?

If you list something on ebay and someone buys it for a price you don't like, can you resell it?

  • I listed a coach purse on ebay and the highest bidder bidded only $5 on it and I emailed them a message telling them I did not want to sell it because I paid a lot of money for it to resell it for $5... can I post it again? If so, how?? Why is ebay so confusing to figure out????????????

  • Answer:

You can not do what you just did. The bidder purchased your item, it's hers. You should have started the bidding higher if you wanted more money or put a reserve on it for the amount you wanted. If your buyer agrees to not purchase than you're okay but if you relist you had better put the starting price higher, or use a fixed price listing and say you want 50.00 for the fixed price or whatever price you want. But you can't start at a low price and expect people to bid it up if there's no one out there who wants it. The person who bought it has every right to bring a complaint you. If you are unsure about doing ebay, don't list an item unless you're sure. Ebay has an 800 number to call for help, they have a live help line on your computer and you can email them.

No, you need to set a reserve price.

No. If you did not put a minimum price on it when you listed, then that's your tough luck. You have a contract to sell it at the price it closed on. If you are not able to understand the rules on e-bay, you really should not use it until you do understand it.

It depends. Are you selling the item for an auction or is it just one price? If its one price then no and if its an auction then obviously the highest bidder will get it and you can not get it back.

Well... I dont know if you can re-sell it, but the fact the lady won at $5 is your fault. When you list something on E-Bay you're supposed to put a starting price.

Savage

You cannot relist it since ebay will close your account. You could also be charged with fraud.

On ebay you are able to set a reserve or price it must get for it to be sold.

sorry, but it's gone =[ what you have to do is put a reserve on it before you put it up for bidding. a reserve is like a hidden minimum price; none of the bidders can see what it is, but if your reserve is not met, the sale for the highest bidder does not go through. i.e: you can start the bidding at 99 cents and make a reserve of $50...if the highest bid is $25 at the end of the time, the sale does'nt happen because the reserve hasn't been met.

No, you are obliged to sell it to the person who won it for $5.00. If you don't you will be reported to eBay and will almost certainly get negative feedback. You should always set your starting price at the least amount you will be happy to take for the item or use a reserve price (if available.)

No, that's why you need to set a minimum price. Now, as long as she gives you the $5 and the agreed upon shipping fees you're bound by legal contract to send her the couch. If you don't, you could be sued. It never hurts to ask them if they'll retract the offer, though. Maybe they're nice people and will realize you made a mistake (by not setting the minimum price high enough).
