Where can I work as a 14-year-old?

Where can I find extra work that allows me to put in min. hours on my work days and max hours when I'm free?

  • I currently work in LA in the entertainment industry and due to the nature of my job have very unreliable hours. Often I work for months with 10 to 12 hour days during the week, then will have a couple months where I'm not working at all. I need to find a source of extra income to support me during those times when I'm off work, but don't want to always be forced to quit when work picks up again... It may be asking a lot but the perfect situation would be one where there is a minimum and maximum amount of hours required to work during the week where I could set my own hours and do as much as I'm capable within that amount of time. Then I can still put in the minimum amount and not have to bail on the company, and when I have more time, be able to put in as much as I can. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!! I've been looking at online businesses and telemarketing, urgh, and would seriously appreciate any help at all.

  • Answer:

Learn to be a waiter. In New York City almost every waiter or waitress under 25 is either a student or between jobs in the entertainment industry. Restaurants have a understanding with them that is pretty reasonable. A waiter at TGIF I hadn't seen for weeks was back. I asked if he was OK and what happened. He told me he was filling in at a off Broadway show while someone was on vacation. He said he does this until the " Big Break" and always comes back to TGIF, the whole staff does this and the owners works with him and the others so theres no problems.

I heard getting paid for doing surveys is a good route. Also, try focus groups...many companies pay people to get others opinions

um well that depends. have you tried a direct sales company. i am an independent designer for a company called home and garden party and my hours are very flexible. check out what you think will work for you. i have small hours outside of home and i have small hours for "office hours" inside my home. and i can work more or less depending on my "availability". and it is very easy to start! most companies provide what you need to get your business going. good luck.

if you are free in weekend then you can work in other entertainment company. otherwise you should purchase a computer and start a online telemarketing business. more information about telemarketing and outsourcing you can find at http://www.market-iq-int.com/

I have a business that I do from home that fits the requirements you mentioned. You would be your own boss, so the hours you choose to work would be completely up to you, which I know will come in handy. With me personally, I've had times in my life where I couldn't work any hours at all due to getting married, taking care of my mother who was in and out of the hospital, helping friends during a difficult time in their life, etc. Life changes and my business hours changes with it. The greatest part about that, though, is the fact that I'm still getting paid during this time with residual income.
