Best website for international buyers?

How do I create a website where buyers can buy and pay electronically? I want to use PayPal for payment.?

  • So I want to sell some handmade jewelry of mine and I don't want to sell it on any kind of auction type site IE: eBay. I want to create MY OWN website where I can sell my jewelry... I know how to do basic web design but don't know how to make it so that my buyers can purchase my items with a button of some sort and then it e-mails me what they bought. So how can I do that BY MYSELF WITHOUT THE AID OF ANOTHER KNOCKOFF SITE? (I want to emphasizethe by myself part seeing since many people in my experience tend to be alliterate)

  • Answer:

If you are looking into starting a real business and you are serious about selling online I would recommend staying away from Paypal. Get a real shopping cart designed so you can manage all your products. Some of my clients went with Medora Solutions out of Vancouver (http://www.medora.ca) for their shopping carts. Have a look at their websites: http://www.kelliesutton.com http://www.tilajewelry.com http://www.sugarlime.com http://www.essentialworks.ca I have no idea how much they paid. Good luck.

You can go to anyone such as Geocities and get Geoplus or use Yahoo Domains (same company), Register.com, Network Solutions and get a site. Most have their own shopping cart tool and you just get an ecommerce package. You can also get a cart tool from Paypal and use easy cut and paste HTML code to put a shopping cart on your page for your items. Go to the above sites and do a comparison. They have templates, help pages and packages to fit your needs.

Take some time and learn Dreamweaver. This is the basis of any site building. You cannot just try and hope for the best. I would aim for a niche jewelry market, as you will not do well with a generic jewelry website. Template monster sell templates that you can modify, and they are cheap. I use host gator and godaddy for my hosting and domain names (cheap). Email me for more info: http://www.johnlambertconsulting.com The Website Guru: http://www.johnlambertconsulting.com

You need to open a business account on PayPal. Then there are several options for accepting payments. See https://www.paypal.com/helpcenter/main.jsp;jsessionid=HrSJlQNZDxpmT0YSy2Tk17jbfk6g62fg8vgJJXZybPgWJqDjWkGG!1093789069?t=browseTab&opentopic=20173&topicName=Website+Payments&topicTreeId=null&showcontent=true&lstLanguageResults=en_US&locale=en_US&_dyncharset=UTF-8&countrycode=US&cmd=_help&serverInstance=9004. I recently signed up for Website Payments Standard. After I got through the sign-up process, PayPal gave me the HTML code to add a button to my webpage. You just copy the HTML code to your page, and a button appears.
