How does a new teen make a theatrical resume?

How to make a resume? *i'm a teenager*?

  • I have never babysat in my life but I will hopefully babysit soon.. I am a LIT (Leader in Training) at my local community center. I am 13 years old in grade eight -- i have a late birthday (oct) You have to be 14 to work in a store (i want to work at american apparel) You need to submit 1-3 photos of your personal style, and a resume. How do I make a resume? I have been going through templates and they all seem so complicated, and make me look like crap since I have next to no experience. question one: how can i make a resume / what do i put on it question two: what can i do to gain more experience - keep in mind i am thirteen so i cannot get a job yet. (if it helps..) I play sax, and electric guitar, I play hockey as well, and I am in my schools band..

  • Answer:

1st- put your name, address, phone number, and email address , all underneath eachother...center aligned at the top of the page. 2nd- Job Objective: (something like ) To become a babysitter... and left aligned 3rd- Education- list your school, location, and year graduated or year of graduation. (left aligned) 4th- Work Experience: list your work experience (left aligned) 5th- Community Service: list any community service you have done. (left aligned) 6th- Skills and Abilities: list of your skills/abilities you think are important for the job... (left aligned) 7th- Honors and Awards: list of your awards/achievements (left aligned) 8th- Activities: list of current activities you have done, or are in. ( left aligned) and at the bottom... (left aligned)-References: then underneath "references"...list 1st reference. (left aligned) , 2nd reference (center aligned), and 3rd reference(right aligned) if some of these don't apply to you, you can also add like " current coursework" across from your eduction.. to make it look less plain. don't forget to space each of these equally and bold the subjects like " job objective, work experience, education, etc..." i am a senior in high school, and i used my resume to get this info from. i hope this helps.

Well start out with your objective. That is, what you are looking to do in the working world. Then list where you are attending school, what grade you are in as well as extracurricular activities. After that, you can list things you do outside of school that proves your skills and responsibilty. At the end, have some references like teachers and maybe your parents or your friend's parents. That's a good order for you, so it's up to you to make it look nice. Good luck! Feel free to email me if you'd like for more help :)

if you have microsoft office open word and use the resume templates. if not that, openoffice.org i think also has templates with their version of Word called Writer i believe. or you can use any text editor. just check for most layouts on the internet and go from there like (1. Title, Address, Contact Info 2. Summary of Skills, 3. Contacts , etc....

I look at a lot of resume for my job and I always prefer people who take the time to make all the words line up, and have the spacing look professional. Also we are not fond of the word template resume, take some time to find somthing else on the internet.

you should put in your involvement in your community. volunteer and stuff like that .at your age people don't expect job experience but if you show how that you are a productive member of society it will help

Take some extra courses. They always help. Babysitting, first aid, leadership training, all available for people our age.

since you dont have any experience youll need a good reference from your LIT instructor so suck up to them =) do good in school and write down how you have good marks ex say you have an A average etc. and put in a LOT of extra curriculars sports hobbies etc cause if you dont have experience theyll want to know how involved you are and also it would be MUCH better for your resume if you could find somewhere to volunteer ESPECIALLY if its related to the job. basically what employers want is some one who has done the job before or has proven they can do it. w/o experience they want to know if your lazy or active basically and for references the more important they are (e.x. some one you volunteer for or your LIT instructor) it will look better from them.
