What does it take to start a restraunt?

What does it take to start your own restraunt?

  • My hubby thinks it'd be simple, easy and enjoyable. I, on the otherhand, know it will be a pain even if it's what he wants to do. I've seen, read about, and heard about too many buisnesses going under. What exactly does it entail?

  • Answer:

First you need to have money to invest and a sound building that has passed inspection. You need to go to your local court house and apply for a business license which may cost you about $1,000 depending on fees. Your will have to set everything up, pay taxes, figure out a budget, and of course how many employees you need and what you will pay them. Your food has to pass regulations and you will need to be inspected by a health inspector on a regular basis. It's not that easy, but it can be fun. Most places don't make much money their 1st year, so be sure you have plenty to keep the business going. Without a thorough plan, you won't be able to get a loan a bank, they will want to see budgets and what not.
