Weird skin irritation?

Skin Cancer or Skin Irritation?

  • I've had this thing on my neck since last summer. I always wear a necklace so I'm thinking it may be irritation due to my necklace. Then I worry it may be skin cancer. It has gotten a lil thicker than when it first appeared, in a horse-shoe shape. When I turn my head to the right my necklace runs right along with the mark. It's a little bit dryer than the other skin and as you can see, has developed a small circle right next to it. It's a light reddish-tan color. Could it be a skin irritation or does it look like skin cancer? Please don't write me back saying "Go to the doctor, we're not doctors".. I'm going to the doctor but I'd like some opinions also. VERY NERVOUS!! http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i213/pistons22girl/a-2.jpg

  • Answer:

Can't tell by the picture exactly what it looks like but, I have tinea versicolor and it looks kinda like that. The thicker, dryer skin describes mine to a tee. So does the color. It's a fungus that can spread and when you get a tan, it changes to whitish as you're changing to brownish. It's easily cured by tinactin...oinment only. Not the lotion or the spray or the cream.
