How do you detect Testicular Cancer?

I'm a 35 yr old male, i'm very paranoid about cancer.?

  • I wanted to know if getting blood tests every 6 months may help to spot the early signs of cancer. i do the usual checks for the likes of testicular cancer, but it scares me about cancers that you may not be able to detect so easily until it's too late. Cancer isn't something that runs in the family, i've had 2 family members who have died due to cancer, cancer of the gullet and bowel cancer. i have 2 kids so i want to make sure i do everything i can to help prevent it happening to me, i know i cant stop it but if i can spot it early then it may give you a better chance of beating it. any comment on this would be much appreciated. thanks

If detecting cancer was as easy as doing a blood test no one would die from cancer these days. You are paranoid. I am curious, your relative died of "gullet" cancer? Are you a chicken??

I am also proud to say I am paranoid about cancer -My mother doesn’t care about cancer while cooking food -If we are paranoid ,we can prevent cancer in future -If we read many books then we will not have any fear of cancer, because we know we are not doing mistakes -Why we should not give advice to patients and do studies about patients, there are two medical colleges nearby my city -You can write e mails to me through this section by clicking my profile -(I think Gazeyboo is a Doctor,I am telling this from my experience of talking with Doctors!)

Being obsessed with Cancer is giving energy to it and robbing you of living your life. Be healthy in your body by eating well, be healthy in your mind by positive thinking and be healthy in your spirit by meditating and sending good energy out so positive energy comes in. Get regular check ups from your doctor and relax. breathe. and just Be.....take good care

If you get some medical books and start reading you will forget about cancer and worry about the thousands of other conditions waiting to end your life. It is a losing battle. Just eat right, exercise and try to lead as stress Free a life as possible. Stress causes more disease than anything. Worry about getting sick can make you sick. Avoid reading up on diseases and just do the right thing for your body.

Getting a blood test every 6 months is certainly a step in the right direction. (But, of course, if you have "symptoms" in between, be sure and contact your doctor and insist on getting it checked out.) My husband -- who is a V.A. patient -- was getting thorough check-ups including blood-work every 6 months just like clockwork and that's what caught his prostate cancer. As upsetting as it was, we have commented to one another many times since then that, if he hadn't been getting the every-6-month check-ups, the cancer would not have been detected until it was way too late (since he was having absolutely no symptoms at all). Bottom-line -- there's only so much you can do -- and it sounds like you're doing it.

The worrying is doing you no good and in fact can cause a stress that can result in cancer. The blood tests can not tell you much unless you are looking for specific cancers. I have had absolutely no cancer in my family as far back as I can go. I did however have strong family histories of heart disease, strokes and Alzheimer's disease. I worried constantly about those three and tried my best at prevention. Guess which I contracted - Cancer! Just live a good life, eat right, DON'T SMOKE! If you do those things then if you do get a cancer it will not be something that you could have prevented. Be aware of your body and systems and react immediately if something is not right. I waited only 3 days after my minor symptom and was able to get immediate diagnosis and start treatments. My symptoms were so minor that I could have ignored them for a very long time - I thank God that I reacted. I don't know yet what my outcome will be, but I do think and hope that my reaction will save my life. If you are young and healthy then you should focus on your family and give them a good and happy life. You and they will benefit tremendously from that. Relax and enjoy your life.
