How do I go about donating my kidney?

  • I'm a healthy 20 year old woman and I want to donate my kidney. My very good friend has kidney cancer and they are talking about the possibility of a kidney transplant. How do I go about donating my kidney to him (assuming we are a match that is. Also, what all needs to match up?) ? What are some things that I need to know going in to this?

    My stepson had a kidney transplant. What you have to do is go with your friend when she has an appointment with her doctor. Tell the doctor your wishes & he/she will put you in the right direction. You have to be a perfect match & that includes your blood type. A positive is good. What is her blood type. It is a good thing that you are doing this for your friend She will be on a lot of medication after surgery for rejection..
