Does 4 full body X-rays cause cancer in infant? and in fetus?

  • Hello please give me some advice. I brought my 1 yr old into the ER as i thought she swallowed a coin or penny. Now the doctor ordered chest, abdominal and spine X-ray but my daughter X-rayed unshielded that's it was full body X-rays as I saw the copy of result. My daughter was move her body and it need her to be X-rayed again to have a good result. It was a massive mistake of mine because nothing seen on her X-rays. Now I am so concerned about the radiation because it was taken at the same time and she is only 1 yr. old. When she X-rayed I realize that I am 3 mos. pregnant and I hold my daughter when she got she got x-ray. I am then concerned about my unborn baby because I didnt wear a shield when that was happened. I felt so guilty, stressed, frustrated and freaking out. Does those X-rays can be a cause of cancer later in life of my 1 yr. daughter and to my unborn baby? It was a digital a X-ray exam hope it was have a lower dose. please help me of what should I do to handle this kind of situation, Thank u in advance.

    First of all, they did everything wrong from the start. The first thing a technician is suppose to ask you is if you think you may be pregnant. Even that, no one else is allowed in the x-ray room. Even the technician shields himself or herself behind a protective glass. Another thing, why would they x-ray your child's spine? If she swallowed a coin, there is no way ever it would lodge in her spine. You were taken for a ride. This sounds like a money making operation. If the coin didn't show up, why do they need another x-ray. As far as your pregnancy, radiation does have an effect on the unborn fetus. Those people were idiots. Seek out other help.
