Do people normally get moles removed?

Recommendations (& stories) about places in Sydney to get moles removed?

• Hi :) I'd like to hear from anyone who has had moles removed from various places in Sydney. I have two on my face (either side of my nose). One is flat, a perfect circle and has gotten darker over time. The other has raised and gotten larger, its an imperfect shape and has a few different shades to it. They are both about the size of a pinhead. A few years ago I was concerned that they were both changing and when I asked my doctor he looked at them quickly and just said they were fine. He didnt take me seriously at all. Now a few years on the raised one will itch on occassion. This worries me. So I would like to get it removed and checked out - but not by a gp. I would like minimal scarring since they are right in the middle of my face (I have several deep chicken pox scars so I'd rather not add to those if possible). If anyone could share stories about where they went, the outcome and if you dont mind adding what it cost you to give me a rough idea, I would really appreciate it :)

  I live in Melbourne and there are a number of skin clinics around that give assessments and can do surgery on your moles - in melbourne its all taken care of by medicare. However, lots of these clinics can be very trigger happy and theyre very willing to cut as they get more money from it. So I would be careful. If the doctors are bulk billing, it doesn't hurt to go around to quite a few of them and get some additional opinions. I think I would see a GP, one of these clinics and then a dermatologist/. Remember dermatologists are skin specialists, I've had some minor surgery on a few moles by my dermatologist and I still think he did the best job, after all he's had a lot of practice at it.
