How do I know if I have brain cancer?

  • I realize it's entirely possible that I'm just a hypochondriac, but I've still been kind of worried that I may have brain cancer (I would never really tell anyone because I know they'll just tell me I'm looking too much into it or something similar). I've looked at a few websites listing symptoms, and I seem to have a few of them. I've been having headaches for a while (I'm not sure if they would be classified as frequent or how strong they would be relative to others). I've also had bad eyesight since around 4th grade, and within the past 6 months the vision in just my left eye has begun to degrade (I haven't noticed any change in my right eye). I know seizures are a common symptom, but as far as I know you aren't aware that you have a seizure, so I can't really say if I've ever had one. I'm not sure if it's related at all, but if I'm very sleepy (either stay up very late or wake up early, do something, and try to go back to sleep) I usually have feelings in my head as though someone is activating electrodes before I go to sleep. I wouldn't really say dizziness/clumsiness is a problem, although I am occasionally clumsy and I get dizzy if I stand up sometimes (vision goes kind of black for a few seconds). That's about all I can think of right now; I know it's highly unlikely that anything is wrong (at least as serious as cancer), but I'm still paranoid (if that's the right word). I'm not sure if there's really any way to disprove/prove it or at least have a better idea without going to a doctor but I don't really have a lot of money to do so right now.

  • Answer:

Well, I definitely knew when I had my seizure. There's not a whole lot of mistaking it for something else. You are paranoid. None of your symptoms really correlate with a brain tumor.
