Why exam is necessary?

Will an endoscopic urinary tract exam show more than an ultra sound exam?

  • I am a 46 year old male. I have a very high blood presence in my urine. Was referred to an urologist by my GP. The urologist did a complete physical exam, including my prostate. Also performed an ultra sound on my bladder and kidneys. Though he found my prostate to be enlarged he said that he doesn't find anything that worries him BUT that I must go for an endoscopic urinary tract exam. If he is not worried, why should he then consider the endoscopic exam to be necessary?

  • Answer:

Of course it will show more the doctor will be looking directly at your bladder. He wants to do it to see what is wrong with you. Any blood in the urine should always be investigated.
