Explain why sunbathing for hours every weekend is not a good tactic for increasing Vitamin D levels?

so ya haha im writing a paper for my biology class about the benefits of Vitamin D in the body. like what it does for the body. and so yeah im stuck on this question right now that i have to write a paragraph about. i get that the sun helps our body naturally make Vitamin D in our body that is good for us but my book and online sites dont say how much is too much. i mean i know hours is bad. but also 1 minute isnt enough ether ya know? so is it that too much sun makes too much vitamin D and creates almost an overdose which can ironically be bad for you? also the last question im stuck on is how much Vitamin D dosage would i suggest today more or less that what ppl say as well as what amount is too much and what amount is almost nothing. Im saying we all definitly could use more than what we have now. like i saw 2,000 mg was an overdose but now ppl say its just right haha. so ya

You create enough vitamin D for the entire day by being in direct sunlight for about 20 minutes wearing a t-shirt and long pants. Your body should not create an overdose itself, I think the 2,000 mg overdose information is regarding the over-the-counter supplement you can buy. Hope this helps you!
