What is the symptoms of stomach cancer?

  • just wondering.

  • Answer:

In general . . there are NO symptoms of stomach cancer until it is advanced and once it is advanced it can be found. The reason for this is simple . . cancer refers to a tumor . . it begins as a single mutated cell and begins to grow . . as long as the tumor is small it can mold and wrap itself around body structures and cause no problems at all. Cancer is not something foreign in the body . . it is your own DNA and because of this the body and early stages of cancer can co-exist nicely. It is not until cancer is large and begins to interfere with normal bodily functions that any type of symptom begins to appear . . and it is usually vague feelings of uneasiness . . could very easily also be the flu or a cold or something very minor. This is the major reason why cancer is so deadly .. because it is painless and can go unnoticed until it is advanced and far more difficult to treat. There are no early symptoms for stomach cancer. But one way you may be able to narrow down the type of diseases is that cancer is often age specific . .which only means that certain age groups get certain types of cancer. Stomach cancer occurs in older adults . usually over the age of 40, 50, 60 . . there is a specific reason for this. The type of cells and hormones present in your body change at different ages . . the body of an infant or child is not the same biologically as that of an older adult . . so different ages mean different types of cancer. Children, teens, and young adults almost never get organ related cancers such as breast, lung, colon, or stomach cancers . . the young tend to get cancers associated with small round cells, soft tissue, blood, lymph nodes, muscles, fat, and brain. So find out what types of cancer are common in your age group . . and keep an eye out for them . . otherwise just go about living your life. I will tell you what my dad went through when he had stomach cancer. Some will say there is no pain but that's not true. My dad had a lot of pain much like an ulcer attack. He confided in me all the time and wanted help. He vomited almost daily because he couldn't keep food down. He had blood in his stools and no matter what kind of ulcer medication he took, it didn't help. I pleaded with him to see a gastroenterologist but he felt his doctor knew what he was doing. NOT....He's even call me in the middle of the night for advice and I kept telling him that I'm a nurse, not a doctor. He suffered with these symptoms for at least 3 yrs before he passed out and was rushed to the hospital. That's when stomach cancer was found. The DR told my mom had he seen the right doctor when he first felt that pain, he'd be alright. Sadly, it was too late and dad died. He couldn't eat anything because it would hurt him. Not everyone has the same symptoms. Some can go a long time before it's discovered and then it's too late. The best way to find out is through an endoscopy and then it can be found early and taken care of. Hope that helps. Blessings ADD I just read Maddie answers and she comes the closest to the facts as well.
