Have you been demoted from your position at your current job?

How do i go about telling my boss im planning on having a child without loosing my position?

  • I know people say that your work can't fire you for being pregnant however te position I have I work 12 hour shifts 4 days a week and I love this positon it took me a long time to get to. We really want to have a baby and if I am pregnant that means I will be out a lot for appointments and then for maternity leave. I know if I have to go t appointments and miss work that they will have m back in my old position as they need someone there consistently. I make really good money in this position and I don't think it would be fair if I. Was to get pregnant that I would be demoted. I know this will hppen a the girl I got this job from was pregnant and got demoted and now I have her position. If I get demoted there really would be no point in me working there as I wouldn't make as much money but then nobody wants to hire a pregnant women either. What do you do

  • Answer:

Don't tell them that you're planning to get pregnant, that's your personal business and your job do not need to know unless there is a valid reason. In my last job, we had to tell the boss if we were planning a pregnancy, not because they were being jerks, but because we worked around some very nasty chemicals which could cause nasty birth defects if exposed. Unless you're in a situation like that, there's no reason to give them any information. Just tell them that you're pregnant when you're pregnant. Doctors appointments are monthly until the third trimester, just schedule your appointments on the weekday that you're not working. I always scheduled my appointments last thing in the evening so I could get to work early so I could leave early and make my appointments without missing work. Law states that, while an employer doesn't have to retain a specific position for an employee on maternity leave, that employee is entitled to return to an equivalent position in the company under the same pay she left. You might not get your exact position back, but they can't cut your pay. If they do, you can sue. If you can't work your position due to your pregnancy, they have to find another position for you under the same salary, or discharge you for your entire pregnancy but continue to pay you. You can't get demoted due to pregnancy just like you can't get fired due to pregnancy. The only thing you might lose is shift allowance if you go from a 4 12 hour shift work week to 5 8 hour shifts.

legally you have the upper hand as it would be against worker rights laws for your'e employer to drop your'e wage or to demote you It is your'e life and They legally can not well I mean it is like your'e boss saying we need you here you can not go have a baby most states have laws in place that you are aloted time of without loss of wages

getting a lawyer is the absolute best option, it is against the law for employers to do that to women anyway because thats discrimination
