What sort of jobs are available in the IT Industry?

What sort of equine jobs are there in the UK?

  • I'm 13 but start my GCSE's this year and was wondering what sort of jobs there are in the equine industry. I help at a local riding school and like show jumping. I was going to work towards becoming a vet but would like to see what other sort of jobs there were and the exam grades you need and what subjects I need to take up and also how much they pay. Thanks :)

hiya :) im 13 and i help at my local riding school as well haha ! :D AND i want to be a vet too !!! :) but here are some other horsey jobs : Veterinary Nurse, Riding instructor, free lance, private or employed by an equestrian centre. Groom (could be for a famous rider e.g ellen whittaker !), Farrier, Saddler, Equine nutrionist, companies such as Baileys, Dengie, Blue Chip, Spillers. Equine hydrotherapist, Equine charity worker, on the front line, at a sanctuary or in the office role, this could be abroad or in the UK for charities such as The Brooke, World Horse Welfare, The Blue Cross. Mounted Police, Equine Dentist. hope this has helped ! :) x

The jobs in the Equine Industry can be broadly split into 2 areas: Direct - those jobs mainly "hands on" with horses, i.e. grooms, riding instructor, work at stables etc. Indirect - jobs connected to horses but not physically with them all day, everyday - such as, Vet, Equine Nutritionist, Sales rep for feeds, rugs etc, working in a tack shop and loads more. In general the indirect jobs usually pay more and you would usually need to have qualifications in Maths, English and Science based subjects. As a general rule the more knowledge, skill, training and qualifications you need to do the job the better paid it will be. It is a very good idea to look at equine courses at colleges around your area.

Farrier Vet Dentist Trainer Dealer (Not all dealers are bad, the ones that actually care about the horses, and look after them!) Well, get your GCSE's and then look at an equine college, there's a really good one in the south called sparsholt, you learn anything horsey there!

Well I'm sure the people you help could give you listings? There's of course vets, farriers, researchers, etc. You can even make a proffesional photography career out of photographing show horses or events.

I'm in exactly the same situation and I'm looking for different kinds of jobs, I have heard that a horse physiotherapist is good though (:
