What english saddle seat size am I?

  • Looking to buy my own saddle (close contact) and I'm wondering what seat size I would be? I'm 5,9", 135lbs.

  • Answer:

I am the same, i fit in most saddles, but fit the saddle to the horse, not the rider! it wont hurt you if its not 100% perfect but it will hurt the horse if it is an inaccurate fit.. <3 hope ive helped!

If you are thinking of using the saddle on several horses - don't. The saddle needs to be fitted to the horse. Sizes given are not for the rider but the horse. Different styles can be different seat sizes so you need to get a saddler to check it out on the horse and find one that is comfortable and correct for you.

I am 5'6", 125 lbs, and i am a size 17. If I were you, I'd try out an 18. If you can go to a tack store, they should let you sit on it to see if it works. If you are like me and can only buy online, then try www.horse.com. They allow you to return the saddle if it is still in perfect condition.

I agree with this other poster. Only buy a saddle if you know what your horse needs. But I would say you need a 15" to a 16" seat. Depending on the size of your donk.

If you only have one horse take him/her to the saddlery and get her fitted then get that fit in a seat size that fits you.
